America Online Inc. is suing to block e-mail from a Kentucky-based mass mailer whose get-rich-quick “spam” mailings have sent millions of unsolicited e-mails to AOL members. Dulles, Va.-based AOL filed suit in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia against Prime Data Worldnet Systems Inc. and its proprietor, Vernon N. Hale. There was no immediate comment from Prime Data. . . . Shares in France Telecom, the French national phone company and the world’s fourth-largest, soared on the first day of trading, closing at $34.63, up $2.94 from the opening on the NYSE. . . .
