Weight-Loss Programs Come Under Scrutiny

Arguing that Americans spend $33 billion for questionable weight-loss programs, the U.S. Office of Consumer Affairs is calling for “the same level of disclosure for the weight-loss industry that we have for car leasing. Agency Director Leslie Byrne complained that consumers “are left to guess about the cost, safety and efficacy” of weight-loss programs.
