A police officer and a paramedic both suffered minor injuries when when a police car rear-ended an ambulance near Simi Valley Hospital, authorities said.

Simi Valley police officials say Gregory Jelin, a paramedic with MedTrans/AMR, was driving his ambulance north on Sycamore Drive about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday when the accident occurred. After stopping for a red light at Alamo Street, Jelin drove into the intersection but stopped again for a fast-moving car traveling west on Alamo.

At that point, Simi Valley Police Officer Daniel Gonzales, who was following in his patrol car, rear-ended the ambulance.
