The Ladies of Venice

In his letter about Venetians and Venusians (“Some Planetary Talk,” Oct. 18), Phil Proctor unfortunately hoists himself on his own petard. Young ladies of Venice might as likely be outraged at having themselves described as signorinas. The correct term is signorine!
