Anti-Airport Group to Hold Hoedown Tonight
Hoping to continue momentum in the fight against the proposed El Toro airport, a South County organization today will hold its fifth fund-raiser of the year.
Taxpayers for Responsible Planning, an organization dedicated solely to the anti-airport effort, is hosting a country music festival, or hoedown, at the Coto de Caza Equestrian Center from 5 to 11 p.m.
The event costs $30 per person.
“We don’t want to make it a big political night,” Bill Kogerman, the organization chairman, said. ‘We want to have a fun night.”
This year, the organization has raised nearly $140,000 at fund-raisers, Kogerman said.
Most of the money from this year’s fund-raisers will go to paying legal fees for the anti-airport effort, which last year reached more than $42,000, according to the organization.
The organization’s budget for this year is $206,057, compared with more than $700,000 last year.
