Regarding Joe Singer’s letter about London (“London Lapses,” Oct. 12):

It hardly seems possible for a country of more than 55 million people to have lost its “moral core” between 1995 and 1997.

Unpleasant restaurant experiences are exactly that, but let’s not write off an entire nation’s moral values because of personal bitterness.
