Rudin on Swiss

Share

It deeply shocks and saddens me to read the unbalanced and one-sided comments made by Rabbi A. James Rudin, national interreligious affairs director of the American Jewish Committee in New York, with regard to Switzerland and the Swiss (Religion, Oct. 18).

Rudin is certainly aware of and could have mentioned the different steps taken by Switzerland, such as the creation of Independent Expert Commissions, which could serve as a model to other nations to shed a full light upon history. He is undoubtedly also aware of the fact that a generous fund for needy Holocaust victims has been created in order to help and show solidarity with the survivors of the worst tragedy mankind has ever endured.

I find the remarks unfair and unjustified. Also, his criticism does in no way contribute to a constructive spirit and cooperation.
