Trustees Consider Rules to Keep Meetings Orderly

Share

New rules and regulations are being considered by the Fullerton School Board to help keep its meetings more orderly and civil.

Under the proposal, public comments would be limited to three minutes per person. Speakers would get a total of 30 minutes to address the board on topics not listed on the meeting agenda, unless the board president increases or decreases the time limit.

In addition, the president could prohibit any disturbance or willful interruption of board meetings.

Over the past several months, meetings have been peppered with public criticisms of the district’s instructional programs, teaching techniques and other issues. At times, observers have made lengthy speeches, burst into applause or groans. They have been told by Board President Anthony Valla to be courteous.

The board will discuss the proposed rules at a future meeting.
