Tour Offers Glimpse of Reagan Quarters

Share

Get the inside scoop on Ronald and Nancy Reagan with a behind-the-scenes tour Sunday of their private quarters in the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.

Visitors taking free one-hour tours--scheduled from noon to 4 p.m.--will see a research room where historians study materials from the Reagan administration, an audiovisual room where more than 1 1/2 million photographs and recordings on the Reagans are housed, and a storage area where presidential gifts are on display.

Plus, museum guests will get a peek at the second-floor presidential suite, where the Reagans maintain offices and where Nancy Reagan often hosts receptions and dinners.

“Most people only get to see [these rooms] if they have personal invitations,” spokesman Mark Hunt said. “This is a rare opportunity.”

Sunday also is the last day that the museum will be exhibiting “Tokens & Treasures: Gifts to Twelve Presidents.”

The next two exhibits open Nov. 15. One will feature presidents’ interests in sports and physical fitness, and another will offer a collection of Christmas cards and holiday gifts given to first families.

The library is at 40 Presidential Drive near Simi Valley.
