Thousand Oaks has received a $68,450 grant from the federal government to provide increased police services, city officials announced Thursday.

The Local Law Enforcement Block Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance will be used for more patrol equipment and training as well as added hours for the city’s Mobile Resource Center, according to police officials.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department provides police services in Thousand Oaks.

Thousand Oaks police went through a rigorous application process for the grant funds, which are given to cities to help reduce crime and bolster public safety, Sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Matson said.
