Armed Trio Rob Ventura Boulevard Bank
Three people carrying guns and wearing masks robbed a Ventura Boulevard bank of an undisclosed amount of cash Saturday, Los Angeles police said.
The robbery occurred about 9:40 a.m. at Hawthorne Savings and Loan, 19300 Ventura Blvd., said Sgt. Scott Mallory of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Mallory said the suspects were wearing masks and black clothes when they entered the bank shortly after it opened. They vaulted the teller counter and, armed with handguns, took money out of the drawers, he said.
Police said the suspects fled north on Tampa Avenue in what appeared to be a Chevrolet Suburban. The FBI and the LAPD are investigating the robbery, Mallory said.
