4 Held After Allegedly Beating 3 Bar Patrons

Four Oxnard men were arrested early Saturday morning after a bar fight in which they are suspected of beating three victims with their fists, a beer bottle and a pool cue, police said.

Valentine Guzman, 18, Juan Carlos Diaz, 20, Eric Maciel Gutierrez, 24, and Daniel Gutierrez, 20, were arrested by sheriff’s deputies in a vehicle that matched the description of the suspects’ car at 1:30 a.m. on Gonzales Road and Rose Avenue.

They were booked at Ventura County Jail on suspicion of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.

Oxnard police said at least four men started arguing with other patrons who were shooting pool about 12:45 a.m. at Jolly’s Cocktail Lounge on North Ventura Road. A fight broke out and the suspects allegedly began battering some of the patrons with their fists, a bottle and a cue, police said.

At least one of the suspects pulled out a knife, police said, and jewelry was stolen from one of the victims.

Three victims, whose names were not released, were treated at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard suffering from head and facial wounds. One of the victims was unconscious, police said.
