Vice president Al Gore urged hundreds of working women to keep up the fight for fairness at the workplace and pledged that the Clinton administration will back them. Gore told more than 1,700 women at an AFL-CIO conference that it is time for a new push for fairness and justice for working women. “We can’t be satisfied until the notion of equal pay for equal work is not just a theory but a reality in the lives of working women,” said Gore, to cheers from the crowd attending the Working Women Working Together conference. Gore also reiterated the Clinton administration stand that people moving from welfare to work should be protected under existing labor laws.
