Kevorkian Client Is Called Incompetent
Dr. Jack Kevorkian acted irresponsibly in helping a Texas woman commit suicide because she was not mentally competent to make such a decision on her own, her brother says. Police on Sunday found the body of 43-year-old Deborah Sickels of Arlington in a hotel room in the Detroit suburb of Romulus. She had suffered from multiple sclerosis. “Debbie was not competent to make the decision to end her life,” said her brother, Robert Allen of Wichita Falls, Texas. “In our opinion, Dr. Kevorkian’s assistance was irresponsible.” Kevorkian’s attorney, Geoffrey Fieger, denied the allegations.
