Roman Catholics throughout Southern California are planning public remembrances of Mother Teresa as the world awaits her funeral this weekend in India.

Cardinal Roger M. Mahony has invited all priests of the Los Angeles Archdiocese to co-celebrate with him a Memorial Mass on Wednesday at St. Vincent’s Church at Adams Boulevard and Figueroa Street in Los Angeles.

Among those expected to attend the 7 p.m. service are sisters and brothers of the Missionaries of Charity, a Catholic religious order founded by Mother Teresa to minister to the poor and homeless. The order has three houses in the Los Angeles region.
