Another Defensive Back Joins the Injured
Add another defensive back to UCLA’s injured list, with cornerback Aaron Roques sidelined for Saturday’s game at Texas after having suffered a bruised shoulder against Tennessee.
With safety Shaun Williams still sidelined because of a sprained ankle, that means that 40% of the Bruin five-man secondary won’t be on hand in Austin.
Bruin coaches will be looking at several replacements for Roques this week, with a likely choice being freshman Marques Anderson, who played most of the second half against Tennessee.
UCLA replaced Williams with Wasswa Serwanga against Tennessee.
The Bruins also won’t have defensive lineman Darren Cline because of an ankle injury.
Texas will be missing wide receiver Dustin Armstrong and defensive end Damon Luckett because of knee injuries, according to Coach John Mackovic, and quarterback James Brown is in a walking splint because of an ankle injury and will be evaluated Wednesday.

UCLA Coach Bob Toledo and Mackovic have a 30-year relationship, stemming from Mackovic’s wife, Arlene. She was a sophomore at San Jose Lincoln High when Toledo was the school’s quarterback.
