Sharon Morris, the deputy mayor for neighborhood and community affairs, will move to the Animal Services Department, where she will become that agency’s general manger, the mayor’s office announced Thursday.

She will be succeeded by Ann D’Amato, the mayor’s assistant for legislative affairs.

In a statement, Mayor Richard Riordan praised both aides.

“Sharon has been a terrific asset to my administration, and has been the driver behind the Targeted Neighborhoods Initiative, which my office recently initiated,” Riordan said.

Of D’Amato, he added, “she has a proven track record as a leader who understands the needs of diverse constituents.”
