UC Irvine’s new 74,000-square-foot Humanities Instructional Building will be dedicated Thursday during a ceremony featuring Japanese drumming, gospel music and Korean and Aztec dancing.

The program will begin at 6 p.m. with Jodaiko drummers from the Japanese American student group, Tomo No Kai. Also performing will be the UCI Inspiration Choir directed by Carver Cossey, dancers provided by the Korean Cultural Center in Los Angeles, and the Xipe Totec Dance Troupe, an Aztec group that will dedicate the new structure with a blessing.

Chancellor Laurel L. Wilkening and interim Dean of Humanities Michael P. Clark will welcome guests to the dedication.
