Leisure World Chosen for Recycling Program

Cited for its record-setting trash reduction programs, Leisure World Laguna Hills has been selected to participate in a one-year research and education project aimed at identifying national models in recycling and eliminating waste in communities and businesses.

Funded by a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the project will be administered by the Washington-based Institute for Local Self-Reliance.

Leisure World is a three-time winner of California’s Waste Reduction Award.

The research project will document the best reuse, recycling and composting programs in the nation.

Project results will be publicized in a report profiling 15 communitywide programs and in a series of fact sheets.

Leisure World is a private, 18,000-resident community for active older adults.
