City Council to Hear Proposal for Opening Coast Wilderness Park

Share

A proposal that will eventually allow Laguna Coast Wilderness Park to be fully opened to the public will be presented by county park officials tonight.

The plan details which sections of the park’s 43 miles of trails will be open to hikers, equestrians and bicyclists.

It also describes the amenities and access points proposed for the parkland, located between Laguna Beach and Newport Beach.

Since the plan was endorsed in August by the Coastal Greenbelt Authority, a panel that oversees the park’s management, park officials have been offering presentations to interested groups around the county.

Tonight’s session will give Laguna Beach residents a chance to comment on the plan, expected to go before the county Board of Supervisors early next year.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall, 505 Forest Ave. Information: (714) 834-6662.
