Soroptimists to Distribute Fliers About Violence

Share

More than a dozen members of Soroptimist International will distribute fliers Oct. 6 to warn working women about domestic violence.

Homicide, often by husbands or boyfriends, is the leading cause of on-the-job deaths for women, said spokeswoman Pam Wright, a lawyer who specializes in domestic violence. She said nearly all battered women experience problems on the job, including coming in late and missing work days. Some have trouble functioning amid repeated calls from their abuser.

The fliers carry a safety slogan and list the numbers of domestic hotlines.

The National Domestic Violence Hotline number is (800) 799-SAFE.
