Interlink Electronics in Camarillo announced that one of its newest technologies, the MicroJoystick, was selected by IBM to control a variety of new features on its ScrollPoint mouse.

The MicroJoystick is an isometric device with a minimal amount of stick flex, designed to maximize sensitivity and precision. With no moving parts to gum up or wear out, the fingertip-actuated joystick is maintenance-free, Interlink officials said.

“We continue to see the evolution of desktop mice into devices that offer increased input control and functionality,” said E. Michael Thoben, Interlink chairman, chief executive officer and president.

“Document scrolling and zooming are essential in both office and Internet computing, and Interlink’s MicroJoystick is a natural interface to control these functions.”

Interlink Electronics specializes in the development and manufacture of computer-pointing devices and technologies. The company’s products include hand-held remote controls with mouse functionality, cordless mice and keyboards, touchpad and pointing sticks, and desktop PC pointing devices.

The company maintains offices in Camarillo and Tokyo.
