Spotlight: Magazine Retains California Journal Name

Share

A small magazine that has covered state politics and government since 1970 will keep the name California Journal, under a settlement with the Wall Street Journal. The dispute began in September 1996, when the nation’s largest newspaper decided to call its new weekly section California Journal. The magazine was granted a court order barring the paper from using the name, arguing that it could confuse readers. The settlement ends the legal battles. The paper will continue to call its section California.
