Irvine’s STM Wireless Narrows 4th-Quarter Loss to $4.1 Million

STM Wireless Inc., a provider of communications equipment, said it narrowed its fourth-quarter losses while revenue dropped 38%.

STM lost $4.1 million, or 64 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $5.7 million, or 90 cents a share, for the corresponding period of 1996. Revenue dropped to $7.1 million from $11.4 million.

For the year, the company lost $2.1 million, or 32 cents a share, compared with a loss of $5.1 million, or 80 cents a share, for 1996. The results of both 1996 and 1997 have been restated to include Telecom International, which was acquired in December. Revenue increased 36% to $52.1 million from $38.3 million.
