Habitat for Humanity Home Is Delayed

Share

A combination of this winter’s heavy rains and a change in building plans has delayed the construction of Camarillo’s second Habitat for Humanity home.

The three bedroom home will be built on a lot donated by the city at the corner of Las Posas Road and East Loop Drive.

Construction is now scheduled for early May with habitat’s “blitz build”--similar to an Amish barn raising--planned for May 23. More than 50 volunteers are expected to descend on the site that day, weather permitting.

People who would like to volunteer to help with construction may call work coordinator Gerry Olsenat 482-4109.

About 200 volunteers completed the nonprofit Christian group’s first Camarillo home in just seven weeks in 1996. The group has built more than 60,000 homes worldwide in the last 23 years.
