Quartz Hill Hits Six Long in Shortened Game, 14-9

Quartz Hill High hit six home runs, including four in succession during a six-run first inning, and defeated Littlerock, 14-9, in a Golden League baseball game Friday at Quartz Hill. The game was shortened to six innings because of rain.

The Rebels (8-3, 3-2 in league play) began the first inning with six consecutive hits, including a three-run home run by Fernando Cardenas. Johnny Smith, Jeremy Elkins and Daniel Bailey followed with home runs for Quartz Hill.

Cardenas had three hits. Ryan West was four for four, including a home run and a double for Quartz Hill.

Mike Arvizo had a three-run home run in the sixth inning for Littlerock (2-5, 0-3).

Chad Spencer (4-0), who replaced A.J. Ryan in the fourth inning, earned the victory.
