The Gamble That Is College Basketball
When college administrators and coaches lower the standards on grades, admittance, behavior and illegal drugs, how can you be surprised about point shaving and assault? When our alleged leaders decide not to worship the dollar, perhaps they will determine right is right and wrong is wrong and start to lead rather than bow.

Regarding Mr. Chiccoa’s assertion that Steve Lavin is heading up one of the five major basketball programs in the country [Viewpoint, March 28] I did some quick research. I don’t think the last time I checked he was coaching at any of the following: Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, Arizona or Kentucky. Heck, UCLA was the third-best team in its own conference! Wake up, the ‘70s are over.
