76ers Hand Clippers Third Straight Loss

Allen Iverson had 21 points, nine rebounds and seven assists as the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 93-78 Friday night.

Derrick Coleman registered his fourth straight double-double, scoring 21 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, and Theo Ratliff had 13 points and nine rebounds as the 76ers won for the third time in four games.

The Clippers, who lost their third straight, were led by three players with 13 points -- rookie Charles Smith, Lamond Murray, who also had 11 rebounds, and James Robinson.

Stojko Vrankovic had a career-high 15 rebounds for Los Angeles, which shot just 28-of-83 (34 percent) from the field.

Philadelphia, which led by 17 at halftime, continued to widen the margin in the third, opening a 72-51 advantage at the end of the period. Coleman scored 11 straight points at one point in the quarter as the 76ers did not allow Los Angeles to get within 15.

In the fourth quarter, the Clippers pulled to 80-65 with 5:19 left, but a dunk by Tim Thomas capped an 8-3 run as Philadelphia opened another 20-point lead.

After leading 21-17 following the first quarter, the 76ers went on a 14-4 run behind six points from Iverson to take a 35-21 advantage. The lead reached 23 late in the quarter as Los Angeles was making just 11 of 42 shots (26.2%).

Clipper Notes

For the second consecutive game, the Clippers were without forwards Rodney Rogers and Maurice Taylor. Both injured their left knees against Indiana on March 31. Both are listed as day-to-day.
