Council Approves Computer System

Share

The city will purchase a $1.1-million computer system intended to improve processing of utility bills, building permits, business licenses and other municipal services.

The City Council unanimously approved the purchase Tuesday night after more than a year of study by municipal staff.

Despite the price, city officials estimate the net cost of the system over the next six years will total about $137,000 because the city will no longer rent use of a computer in Dallas that performs many of the same functions.

The new system is expected to be more efficient, easy to use and able to access financial and other information rapidly.

The system is expected to begin coming online in October.
