Snead Only Fatigued and Will Tee Off Today
Sam Snead, 85, was released from University Hospital in Augusta, Ga., Wednesday afternoon after suffering from were first believed to be a series of mini-strokes before Tuesday night’s Masters champions dinner. Tests revealed Snead was suffering from fatigue.
Snead’s condition was upgraded from poor to fair by noon Wednesday and the three-time champion is expected to take part in the ceremonial opening of the Masters today.
Snead, Byron Nelson, 86, and Gene Sarazen, 96, are expected to hit ceremonial shots off the first tee.
“He’s raising Cain to get out of the hospital and he’ll be here in the morning for the tee-off,” Augusta National Golf Club chairman Jack Stephens said.
