Hearing Set on School Neighbors Oppose
In response to complaints from residents, the Planning Commission has set a hearing Monday about a private school being built on Santa Ana Canyon Road.
Residents have called the school building imposing and say it will bring traffic and noise into their neighborhood when it opens for about 100 children in preschool through third grade.
“This is a classic conflict between residents and commercial,” said Bart Allen, who lives on Calle Jaime next to the school. “I just feel our side got cheated and the builder got everything.”
The city approved the school in 1993. The Planning Commission will consider modifications to both the school’s operating permit and building design.
The developer agreed to place playground equipment farther away from homes, planners said.
