Deadline Set for Plan to Move Historic Home

Share

The City Council has given the city’s Historical Society until Monday to draw up a proposal to move an historic Arts and Crafts home to Heritage Court in Dominguez Park.

The council was scheduled to make a decision this week on whether the 1921 home could be moved to Heritage Court, where two other historic residences have been restored and are on display. City officials postponed the decision, saying they needed more information. They plan to reconsider the issue April 21.

The historic home was donated to the Historical Society by the Redondo Beach Unified School District last month. The district purchased the home with the intent of building a parking lot on the site.

The Historical Society needs to find a place for the house by June 1 and would like to relocate it to Heritage Court. City officials have expressed concern about the move conflicting with a $500,000 improvement project scheduled for the park.
