Parenting Classes Will Be Offered

A series of Positive Parenting classes is being offered to the public by Interface Children Family Services.

The 10-week series of classes will be held in five locations at $10 per two-hour session, said Lisa Peterson, a family life specialist with Interface.

Peterson said Interface plans to open a sixth class for the Santa Paula-Fillmore area soon.

“We call this ‘active parenting-plus,’ ” she said. The classes address issues such as learning to recognize anger and stress in parents and kids, becoming more effective at saying “no” with love and learning to manage behavior better, communicate better and build self-esteem.

“All with a goal of getting kids to be more cooperative and the parents to have a more peaceful job of parenting,” Peterson said.

Classes are usually held on weeknights, with some on Saturday mornings. All classes are ongoing throughout the year. For more information or to register, call 485-6114.
