Besides spending time with her three children and two grandchildren, Audrey Eales had a great love for reading, gardening and painting, said her son, George Eales.

Before moving to Ventura last year, she was an active volunteer with Camp Fire Girls and the Westchester Lariats, a youth dance group.

She died at Community Memorial Hospital from complications after abdominal surgery, her son said.

In addition to George and the grandchildren, Audrey Eales is survived by two daughters, Barbara Eales of Ventura and Margaret Kingsbury of Bishop.

The family will hold a private memorial service Friday at the Ventura home of George and his wife, Wendy, a former property manager for Martin V. Smith in Oxnard.

Arrangements are by Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
