Los Angeles police on Thursday identified a 35-year-old man as the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred in a North Hollywood house.
Hakop Kazarian was killed early Wednesday as he sat in the living room of two friends’ bungalow in the 11100 block of Morrison Street, police said. A gunman fired an automatic pistol through a closed window from outside the home, killing Kazarian, according to Det. Mike Coffey.
“I’d say there were more than a dozen shots fired,” Coffey said.
Kazarian’s friends, a woman and her boyfriend, “hit the floor and ran for cover,” Coffey said. “They did not see the gunman.”
Several neighbors who heard the shots called police. A few neighbors told investigators they saw a black Mercedes-Benz driving away but, Coffey said, “We’re not sure that it was connected the crime.”
Kazarian lived with his parents in their North Hollywood home, but Coffey said he knew little else about the victim.
“When we find out more about the deceased, we’ll probably know more about the motive of the crime,” Coffey said. “This wasn’t random.”
