HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE: An interfaith ceremony will observe the Days of Remembrance, a commemoration of Holocaust victims, at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, 521 E. Olive Ave., Burbank. Burbank students will read their essays on racism and intolerance at the program, sponsored by the Burbank Human Relations Council and 18 local churches and temples. Survivors and their grandchildren will conclude the event with a candle-lighting ceremony in memory of the 1.5 million children who died in the Holocaust, as well as forgotten children who have perished in genocide worldwide.

“These days are set aside to remember the victims of the Holocaust and to remind Americans that nations are capable of evil when bigotry, hatred and indifference dominate national policy,” said Sylvia Sutton, Days of Remembrance chairwoman.

The council will continue to sponsor Holocaust remembrance as 25 survivors and liberators give testimonies at Burbank schools throughout the spring term. Information: (818) 842-3935.
