KINGS-DUCKS REPORT

Share

Avoiding more injuries will be the key for the Kings today. After a fight-filled 7-3 loss to St. Louis on Thursday, Coach Larry Robinson is concerned about his team’s health heading into next week’s playoffs.

“I don’t want to see [too much fighting] because there’s always a risk of injuries,” Robinson said. “That’s the sad part about these last games is that you don’t want your key guys getting hurt. That’s usually how it happens.”

Against the Ducks, the Kings will be without right wingers Glen Murray, who suffered a rib strain against the Blues, and Sandy Moger, who has not played since March 26 because of a left knee sprain. Murray is listed as day-to-day and Moger is week-to-week.

The Kings will give away 24 game-worn jerseys to fans as part of a special postgame ceremony for Fan Appreciation Day after today’s game. The fans will be chosen randomly from the crowd and escorted onto the ice, where various Kings will remove their jerseys, autograph them and present them to the fans.

The Kings will also give away two season tickets for the 1998-99 season and will be selecting the winner of The Times’ Cup Crazy Sweepstakes, which will send one winner and a guest to all of the team’s 1998 playoff games.

Olli Jokinen, the Kings’ first-round pick in last year’s draft, was named MVP of the Finnish Elite League playoffs. . . . Center Ray Ferraro, who has sat out the last three games because of swelling in his left knee, has been cleared to play by team doctors. . . . The Kings’ last defeat to the Ducks was April 9, 1997.
