Andy Butterbrodt New GVL President

* Andy Butterbrodt has been named president of GVL Inc., the parent company of Global Van Lines in Orange. He had been executive vice president since 1997. Butterbrodt rejoined Global after leaving in 1993 to become chief financial officer for Direct Container Line, a shipping company in Carson.

* Robert J. Zwerling has been elected vice chairman of the board of directors of Vision Solutions Inc., an Irvine data management software provider. He will step down as president and chief executive. Chris Turner, a founder of the company and chief technology officer, will become chief executive and Ronald Trepp, chief financial officer, will become chief operating officer.

* John V. May has been appointed treasurer of Furon Co. in Laguna Niguel. He was previously director of treasury operations for the manufacturer of engineered polymer components. May also has been corporate manager of finance for Maxwell Laboratories Inc. in San Diego.

* Brian Truesdale is the new director of worldwide sales for TDK Semiconductor Corp. in Tustin. He assumes the responsibilities of Mel Marchbanks, vice president of worldwide sales, who retired. Truesdale had been area sales manager, Western U.S. for TDK.

* D. Ronald Duren has been named president of telecommunications sales and marketing for Datum Inc. in Irvine. He had been president and chief operating officer of Telecom Solutions, a subsidiary of SymmetriCom. John R. Rice was appointed president of the telecommunications business units. Rice had been president of Datum’s Austron division.

* Norm Young has been named vice president of sales and marketing for Derlan Inc., a manufacturer of aerospace products. Prior to joining Derlan, Young was president and general manager of Peacock Aerospace.

* Denise M. Warren has been appointed director of investor relations for First American Financial Corp. in Santa Ana. She is based in New York. Warren had been First American’s investor relations consultant for six years at Johnnie D. Johnson & Co. Martin I. Demsky will assume responsibility of investor relations manager in addition to his role as senior vice president, executive operations officer of the First American Title Insurance Co. of New York.

* Coleman Kane has joined A Better Way of Learning in Costa Mesa, makers of the Phonics Game, as chief operating officer. He was formerly director of marketing for Jenny Kathleen Walker

Craig Inc. Kathleen Walker was named director of operations. She previously managed the customer service division of Jenny Craig.

* Earl Slee has joined Micro Therapeutics Inc. in San Clemente as vice president of research and development. Slee had been vice president, research and development for Aequitron Medical Inc. in Minneapolis, and before that, was director of engineering at Instromedix Inc. He also held positions with Pfizer, Welch Allyn and Hughes Aircraft Co.

* Kathy Altomare has been appointed field manager, customer service at Xerox Corp.’s South Coast operations in Santa Ana. She has been with Xerox for 14 years, most recently in San Diego.

* Michael K. Jacobs has been named vice president of distribution sales, Americas, for Printronix Inc., an Irvine printer company. Jacobs, who has been with Printronix since 1977, had been director of distribution sales, Americas.

* Tina McAuley has been appointed vice president of sourcing and product development for Wet Seal Inc., a Foothill Ranch-based specialty retailer. Since joining the company in 1989, she has held a number of positions including designer, project manager and most recently, merchandise manager. Kim Bajrech has been named vice president of merchandising. She had been a merchandise manager.

* Gail A. Walters has joined Hunter Barth Inc. Advertising in Irvine as senior account manager. She was previously vice president of marketing for Hang Ten International and vice president of client services for an ad agency in La Jolla.

* Philip C. Cohen has been named senior associate in the Newport Beach office of CB Commercial. He specializes in regional and national representation of corporate clients. Cohen has been with CB Commercial since 1992.

* Jay Tinen has been appointed to the newly created position of product design manager for James Hardie Building Products Inc. in Mission Viejo. He had been a product design manager for USG Interiors for eight years.

* Lisa Ciccanti has been named director of marketing/business development for Irvine Medical Center. She was previously director of business development for Garden Grove Hospital and Medical Center and Woodruff Community Hospital in Long Beach.

* William E. Wilson has been named product manager of computed tomography for Toshiba America Medical Systems in Tustin. Wilson previously worked for Elscint in South Africa, Israel and most recently in the United States.

* Dean Ansley has been appointed vice president of operations for Australia-New Zealand Direct Line in Santa Ana. He had been vice president of sales. In his new position, Ansley is responsible for all aspects of the company’s North American operations, including trucking, terminal, rail and leasing companies.
