A 22-month-old girl was accidentally run over Wednesday evening by a tram at Disneyland.

The toddler, from Tehachapi, was at the Esplanade loading area about 7:40 p.m. when the tram hit her, pinning her right arm, said Gary Gionet, communications supervisor of MetroNet, a fire network that covers seven Orange County cities.

Two off-duty firefighters were able to free the girl from the tram before Anaheim paramedics arrived, Gionet said.

The girl was treated at UCI Medical Center in Orange for a cut on the forehead. A splint was placed on her arm at the scene, Gionet added.

John McClintock, a Disneyland spokesman, said the girl apparently ran in front of the tram, which takes guests to parking areas and hotels.

He said the accident occurred near the main gate on Harbor Boulevard.

Officials at UCI Medical Center declined to elaborate on the girl’s condition.
