It’s Early, but Dodger Fans Already Thinking Blue

This year’s Dodgers are as doomed as last year’s. Anybody who watches and listens to them every day can sense that these guys aren’t a fighting unit. We have too many Todd Zeiles and not enough Eric Youngs. There seems to be too much of a general feeling that it’s a long season and it will all come around when everybody starts hitting. I doubt it. We need more desperation and less tolerance of losing.

I’ll continue to hang on every one of Vinny’s golden words, but I’ve heard it all before.

Well, we’ve seen all of the passion, fire and brimstone Bill Russell is seemingly capable of demonstrating. All this intensity has had the resultant effect on his team of a bottle of Sominex. Maybe several bottles? Let’s not even get into his offensive and defensive managing gaffes. Bill, you’re a nice guy, but . . . .

You want a real winning team, an honest-to-God team of good old-fashioned scrappers? Then, hire a winner who doesn’t give a damn about being buddies with his players, and who doesn’t give a damn about Dodger administrators, and who doesn’t give a damn about whether the media like him or not.

You want the Dodgers to go to the World Series? Then put personalities and politics aside, put the team first, and hire Davey Lopes to manage them.
