Palmdale Airport
Jay Goldman (letter, April 18) must have his head in the smog if he thinks a commute from Monrovia to LAX is easier than a commute to Palmdale, especially now that the expanded lanes on Highway 14 are almost ready for use.
No one has ever said that a Palmdale expansion was the answer to all of LAX’s problems (that answer doesn’t exist), but surely a Palmdale presence in the air transportation picture will help relieve the burden both for air travelers and for the imposed-on people in the airport area. A Palmdale expansion would cost next to nothing compared with what’s proposed for an already dangerously overburdened and out-of-date LAX.
The way things are going down there, I foresee the day when LAX users might park as far away as Palmdale, which, incidentally, is free.
