Alan Burke got the Vigilantes off to a good start, hitting a grand slam in the first inning, as they defeated the Bend Bandits, 13-12, in a Western Baseball League game in Bend, Ore.

The Bandits came back with two runs in the bottom of the inning, and another in the second, on a home run by Brian Conley, his ninth, but the Vigilantes responded with six runs in the third inning. The Bandits tried to play catch-up the rest of the way.

The Vigilantes scored three in the fifth, including Brad Gennaro’s two-run home run, to keep the game out of reach.
