* Michael C. Shaw of the Rockwell Science Center in Thousand Oaks was one of 83 people selected to participate in the National Academy of Engineering’s fourth annual Frontiers of Engineering symposium in Irvine. The Sept. 17-19 event brings together top engineers ages 30-45 to discuss leading-edge research and engineering developments.

Shaw is a manager of design and reliability for materials science at Rockwell.

* Attorney Thomas J. Hutchinson of Westlake Village has become an associate with Norman, Dowler, Sawyer, Israel & Hancock in Ventura. He has specialized in family law, probate, corporate and business law during the last five years.

His new law firm is located at 840 County Square Drive.

* Jean Picard of Ventura has been appointed California state coordinator for the Assn. of Bridal Consultants. She will work with association members in California, encouraging networking and keeping members up to date on California wedding trends.

She operates Jean Picard Wedding Consulting.

* Deborah Largey, owner of The Maids, serving Camarillo and Oxnard, was named to the company’s International Winner’s Circle for outstanding operating efficiency in sales and labor. She was chosen from among 150 franchise owners.

* Ann Schmitt has been promoted to retail sales manager for the AT & T Camarillo store. She will be responsible for the store’s monthly sales, inventory and profit growth.

She had been a sales representative with AT & T Wireless since 1995.

* Advanced Photonix in Camarillo has hired Brock Koren as director of sales and marketing. He has more than 10 years sales experience, most recently with Hamamatsu, where he sold photonic components.

Advanced Photonix designs and manufactures silicon photodetectors, optoelectronic hybrid assemblies and large-area avalanche photodiodes.
