A Los Angeles police officer has been suspended after an internal investigation found him guilty of perjury, police said Monday.

Officer Edward Ruiz of the department’s 77th Street Station was found guilty of lying on the witness stand in a criminal case, the department said.

An Internal Affairs Department investigation found Ruiz lied about facts in the case, and he was later found guilty of lying under oath and filing a false police report, the department said.
