Work Continues on River Trail Project
A city crew continued work Monday on the Ventura River Trail project, which began in May and is expected to end by mid-1999.
On Monday, crew members were reinstalling a water irrigation system on Santa Ana Road at the entrance of Foster Park that was removed for landscaping work, said City Engineer Albert Carbon.
The six-mile trail eventually will link the Pacific Ocean and Ojai’s Libbey Park.
The $2.5-million project will include trails for walkers, bicyclists and equestrians. Along the trail, several pieces of art will be displayed, one involving life-sized models of a brown pelican and a great egret.
