ORANGE COUNTY EARNINGS

CoCensys Inc.: The Irvine developer of products to treat neurological and psychiatric disorders posted a net loss of $3.6 million, or 16 cents a share, for the second quarter, compared with a net loss of $1.2 million, or 5 cents a share, for the comparable period last year. Revenue fell to $425,000 from $7.4 million. The 1997 second-quarter results included $5.8 million from a partnership agreement with Wyeth-Ayerst.

For the first half, the company lost $6.8 million, or 31 cents a share, compared to a loss of $7.3 million, or 33 cents a share, for the same period of 1997. Revenue declined to $1.6 million from $9.3 million.
