Public Works Chief Quits to Perform Job Under Contract
The Baldwin Park City Council has awarded a contract to a firm owned by its public works director to manage his department.
The deal approved on a 3-2 vote late Wednesday allows Sid Mousavi, the public works director, to leave his permanent job and continue to manage the department from his position as a partner in a Fullerton-based engineering firm, AAE Consultants.
Under the contract, Mousavi will work 30 hours a week at $71 per hour for the city. According to city officials, the unusual arrangement will save the city about $37,000 annually.
