Benefit Seeks Donors to Help Homeless
Project Understanding is searching for Ventura businesses to donate goods or services to auction at its annual October fund-raiser.
Project Understanding is a nonprofit organization that provides food, shelter, education and support services to those who are homeless, about to become homeless or trying to get off the streets.
The group operates a food pantry, a winter warming shelter, a tutoring center and a shower, laundry, mail and message center as well as a counseling and referral center.
This year the organization will hold its auction on Oct. 3 at the Buenaventura shopping center main court. Until then, organizers are looking for donations and sponsors.
Last year’s event drew nearly 500 people and raised $30,000 for Project Understanding.
Those interested in donating should call Karen Campbell at 644-7326 or Judy Alexander at 656-2910.
