Prolong International Inc.: The Irvine maker of automotive and industrial lubricants said net income for the second quarter declined to $115,724, or 1 cent a share, from $507,013, or 2 cents a share, a year ago. Net income for the 1998 period was affected by increased expenses related to the company’s expansion of its retail store distribution channel. Sales increased 20% to a record $8.4 million from $7 million. For the first half, net income more than doubled to $1.7 million, or 7 cents a share, from $786,662, or 3 cents a share, a year ago. Sales advanced 50% to $19.2 million from $12.8 million.
