Officer Gets Year Term for Drug Possession
A veteran police officer has been sentenced to one year in jail after pleading guilty to charges of possession of drugs obtained through a burglary of the Los Alamitos Police Department’s evidence room.
Cpl. David K. Conte, 36, previously had pleaded not guilty to the five felony charges and one misdemeanor. He was sentenced to one year in Orange County Jail upon completion of a drug rehabilitation program. Conte will also face three years of probation.
The 10-year member of the Los Alamitos Police Department was charged with possession of methamphetamine, using and being under the influence of methamphetamine, burglary of the evidence room, offering forged and altered evidence, and falsifying documents. He has been ordered to report to Orange County Jail on Oct. 5.
